Various Paths of Life

Various Paths of Life

Author: Sharen Scott

What are the various paths of Life?

Let us have a look at few of the most prestigious paths through various walks of our lives…..

 • The path of discipline – A good example is the Yoga practice.

Lots of guidelines of what is right and what is wrong, how one is supposed to live, to eat, to breathe, and to be in the yoga posture and so on.

Good sides: The instructions given are based on generations of experience and they will have a positive effect on a person’s being if followed strictly

Danger: One is following someone else’s knowledge, which one may confuse with one’s own understanding. The body becomes very healthy and strong, a good prerequisite for meditation, but also the “ego” the phenomenon of feeling good about oneself, the feeling of “I am doing it the right way” (which always includes the thought someone else is doing it the wrong way) may easily happen.
The “ultimate” step/happening in meditation of just letting go, just being without any doing may never be experienced by many people who are intensely involved in practices such as yoga.

The path of focusing – Examples are: Repeating mantras, holding the image of God in one’s mind, focusing on something such as a candle, listening to guided journeys into soothing scenarios, or even music the way you phrased it in the suggested article.

Good aspects: This method offers very quick noticeable results of relaxation. The object of focus pulls one out of one’s usual, habitual oftentimes worrisome concerns. One may realize that this letting go of the usual worries is possible any time, without the initial tools used

Dangers: This method may keep you on a “surface relaxation” which has no real depth, meaning in can fail in the most challenging moments. One may never take a look directly at the things that occupy the mind and that seem worrisome, so one does not give oneself the chance to experience the realization that the worries were an illusion to begin with.
People in this practice may develop the tendency to trying to avoid that what is unpleasant and only seek that what is pleasant. This means though to exclude a big part of our reality

The path of letting go – Examples are: Bhashkar Perinchery, Eckart Tolle, Lao Tzu, Osho…the practice has the main emphasis of just witnessing what is, the so called bad and the so called good, without trying to chose one before the other. Those practices also incorporate all the craziness that we have accumulated within us, the emotions the judgments. All those things may be experimented with during the meditative exercises.
So even during the practice one does not only do the so called good, correct, instead one deliberately pulls out everything that one finds hidden within oneself and then practices the art of just witnessing without judgment as well as the letting go of aspects that show themselves as outdated, destructive. This method does not assume that there is any absolute right or wrong in this life process.

Dangers: Many people cannot connect to this approach as it is the least graspable approach, the least defined.

Good Aspects: A very humane method that does not condemn anything. A very gentle method, in which the changes in one’s lifestyle gradually arise as the understanding deepens, not because of concepts and morality or someone else’s understandings. A very simple method – Although different techniques are used, it always comes back to “witness what is without interfering or judging, allow the natural”
It allows all different life styles that exist; it just encourages developing consciousness in what we are doing through the practice of witnessing.

Overview of Yoga for Beginners

We have all experienced the benefits of peaceful and meditative moments at some point in our lives, whether we were aware of them at the time or not. Perhaps when walking along the beach, completely absorbed in the moment. No thoughts of the past, no plans for the future. Making no distinctions, judgments, or comparisons in the mind, just feeling at one with our surroundings. At one with the sand, the waves, the sea breeze, the universe. Completely at peace, totally absorbed and focused in the moment. Allowing ourselves just to be. While this may be a fleeting and random occurrence, it need not be if we choose to make meditation a part of our daily lives. The practice of meditation has been utilized for thousands of years, and it is neither complex nor associated with any particular religion or doctrine. It is available to people whatever their background or belief structure, and requires no conversion or abandonment of a present spiritual orientation. Meditation goes by many different names, including the relaxation response, centering, transcendental meditation (TM), and the calm technique, to name a few. Meditation can enable you to experience the deep reservoir of peace within you, no matter where you are, whether at the beach or in your home. Once you become familiar with it, you can gain the benefits wherever you happen to be. The practice of meditation is the culmination of a process which involves two preliminary steps: 1 Withdrawing awareness from the sense …

Overview of Yoga for Beginners

Author: Nilford Gonzalas

Yoga is an age old art form that has been practiced by yogis, tantric, sages and other wise men. It is a discipline that requires concentration, dedication and perseverance. Since it is a tradition that was evolved 5000 years ago, therefore it required certain modification to be made acceptable for the present generation. Even few years back people were not that open to yoga and it was mainly considered to be an Eastern tradition. However, with time and its acknowledgement in the Western world has made it popular among the masses. People are slowly learning its benefits and how it can be used in the development of body and soul. Since it is an age old tradition, therefore it comes along with a lot of difficulty, which makes it hard on the part of the beginner to perform the yoga poses. With the improved technique and modification yoga for beginners is no more a difficult job.

In order to engage the beginners into the art form, it is very important that the exercises are designed in a way which is easy for them to perform. Yoga for beginners should begin with stretching exercises, which helps to warm up the body and prepares the body for further exercises. The beginner should begin the yoga session with meditation and “OM” chants it helps to calm and relax down the body, which in turn helps to increase the level of concentration. Meditation is a very useful exercise to reduce stress and rejuvenate positive energy, which helps to deal with the struggle and tensions of life. One can even play Gayatri mantras or some other instrumental music’s like a Sarod or a Santoor, which helps to increase concentration. The meditation should be practiced for at least 10 to 15 minutes, in the beginning it might not be possible but with regular practice, it can be continued for as long as half an hour.

Once the beginner is done with the meditation then begins the session for basic exercises. One very important thing that the beginner should keep in mind while performing the yoga for beginners is that, one must observe proper precautionary measures while performing the exercises. This is important because yoga poses demand a lot of body balance and stretching, if it is not done properly then it might cause injury to the body. There are several yoga props available in the market, which helps to practice the yoga poses with lot more ease and also reduces the chances of getting hurt. The beginners should never try to work out beyond their limits; this is because in the beginning the body is not very flexible and creates difficulty in stretching. They are just ordinary people like you and I – wives, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, husbands, brothers, sisters – all facing this unexpected turn in their lives. What they have in common is a strong desire to explore meditation and how it might help with their cancer diagnosis.

So … I have now been able to spend the hours of time needed to present my research and meditation experience in a form that is easy to read.

Effective Steps to Manage Anxiety

My name is Seth. I have been meditating since I was 14, but have always been interested in meditation for as long as I can remember. I am a meditation enthusiast Very Happy I wish to bring all meditation enthusiasts together, and I have several ways to do it. First is a forum. The purpose is obvious. It is a discussion board where all mediation enthusiasts can talk about all sorts of topics. Second is a live ustream meditation. on the Ustream I will get in front of the camera and just meditate (and maybe with some open source music playing). That’s it. Sounds silly right? Most Ustream meditation channels at least teach you how to meditate! BUT, most meditation enthusiasts already know how to meditate, and they do it in their own way. Why should I tell them how to meditate when they already found their path? What I seek to do is different. When people tune in, I want them to meditate using their own technique with me and everyone else “watching”. They don’t have to sit in front of their computer-no-but just have the stream running while they meditate. That way, people can know that they are not the only ones meditating at that time, but so am I and the other viewers. Maybe that will help expand meditation, and peace. It might motivate people to meditate more (I know it will motivate me more), and at a somewhat regular schedule. It might even get other people into meditating, and hopefully that can help bring about a more peaceful world. If you tune in, I ask that you …

Take your Worries Away with Meditation Practices and Exercises

Author: Danial Hurley

Do you often find yourself having trouble relaxing, unwinding and calling off the so tiring day? Have you been experiencing late night worrying about work, your promotion, or just any problem?

Worries and stress about what will happen in the future hinders you from enjoying your life. It hinders you from being happy and cheerful with the task at your hands. If you are like this, you easily panic and play stories on your head or be paranoid. This causes your body to kick into play, produce stress hormones and bring your mind into overdrive.

Learning to let go, to remain calm and still in the midst of stressful situations takes a lot of practice and energy to learn. Meditation offers you a way to remain calm and clear your mind, let go of the stressful worries and thoughts. When a person meditates, the mind settles and regains the inner sense of balance, bringing you peace and more relaxed energy. To help you in meditation, here are two techniques you can use to start your meditating.

First is mindfulness meditation. This technique strengthens the areas associated with happiness, positivity and relaxation, and weakens the areas associated with stress, tiredness, and negativity. Practice mindfulness meditation in a quiet and secluded place – somewhere away from distractions, noisy and busy places. Sit comfortably on the floor or a chair. Pick a point of focus, a word, an object or just anything that you can focus on. Pay attention to it and discard all distractions. The key to mindfulness meditation is to stay engaged in the present moment.

Second is progressive muscle relaxation. This technique systematically tense and relax muscle groups in your body, including chest, upper back, abdomen, neck, forehead, foot, and hand. Usually, it is advised to start by tensing and relaxing the muscles on your feet and work your way up to the muscles on your face. Start by sitting down in a comfortable place, breathe in and breathe out then focus your attention on the muscle group you want to tense and relax. Contract the muscles for around 10 seconds and then relax them afterwards. Feel the tension flowing away from your body. Do this for all the muscle groups in your body.

In reality, there are several forms of meditation—some are complicated, some are easy to do. What matters is, you are able to choose which works for you best.

Guidelines for Simple Meditation

Author: Danial Hurley

Meditation is something that raises the eyebrows of many, or gets followers going “hummmm” while sitting on the lotus position. Still, it is a valid point to look at what is meditation, and how to do it in a simple manner. Meditation is something practiced by monks ages ago to relax the mind and free it from cluttered up thoughts. It reduces our stress levels which is very bad to our health because of the diseases that it brings.

Our daily grind consists of waking up, going to work, and sleeping. We have little or no room to relax our mind, save the little hours of sleep that we get at night. At our conscious hours, we fuss over little things that stress us. Little did we know that we can channel this negative attention into good ones to help us pass our daily lives.

Meditation in a nutshell is slowing down your mind to attain relaxation. At first, you will only be relaxed when you meditate but soon you’ll realize that its effects carry over to your actions. This will teach you how to deal with stressful situations that normal people succumb to. It gives you an emotional edge on not being affected too much by stress because you have seen the positives of not having it.

Start meditating by sitting very comfortably in a wide and soft pillow every morning, just before the hectic schedule. Try to make it in short increases that gradually increase once you get the hang of it. The trick is to tune-up your body into thinking that at this point of the day, pure relaxation will happen. Invest some 15 minutes into it each day.

It is much better to meditate in the morning because you’ve probably forgotten yesterday’s stress, putting you in a calmer state of mind than usual. Focus on your breathing, and forget every unwelcome thought. Think of it as something that is your escape from the world. Listen to the little noises that your surroundings make while breathing deeply. It may not produce immediate results, but this moment of calm will surely have its effects on your life once you’ve established a routine. Keep at it, and eventually you’ll be eager to meditate more, day by day.

Internal Yoga

Yoga is a way of life. It is predominantly concerned with maintaining a state of equanimity at all costs. Yoga Darshan or Yoga Philosophy also happens to be a valid discipline of Indian metaphysics (Brahma Vidya).

The essential idea of yoga is to join the atma or human being soul with the paramatma or the worldwide Soul. This is the intelligence encapsulated in the term samadhi. The aim of the yogi is to be able to perceive the planet in its true luminosity and to accept that fact in its total.

The name Yoga has a very broad scope. There are several schools or systems of Yoga. Dnyanayoga (Yoga through knowledge), Bhaktiyoga (Yoga through devotion), Karmayoga (Yoga through action), Rajayoga (Royal or supreme Yoga) and Hathayoga (Yoga by balancing opposite principles of body)

Yoga has been looked upon as a successful way of self-improvement and spiritual enlightenment. All these systems in actual fact have this same purpose; only the ways of achieving it are little different for each of them. In its most well-liked form, the term Yoga has come to correlate with the last of these systems which is Hathayoga.

Numerous Aurovilians, certainly persons who have purposely come for Auroville’s spiritual vision and call, are practicing the ‘Integral Yoga’ as described by Sri Aurobindo, and naturally refer to it in their communications in daily life. Transformation of our superficial, narrow and fragmentary human way of thinking, seeing, feeling and being into a deep and wide spiritual consciousness and an integrated inner and outer continuation and of our ordinary human source of revenue into the divine approach of living.

His yoga accepts the value of cosmic existence and holds it to be a reality; its object is to enter into a superior Truth-Consciousness or Divine Supramental Consciousness in which action and creation are the expression not of lack of knowledge and imperfection, but of the Truth, the Light, the Divine Ananda . Only those who can believe the call to such a make improvements should enter into this yoga.

The development we have to track is to put our whole mindful being into relative and contact with the Divine and to call Him in to transform our entire being into His, so that in a sense God Himself, the real Person in us, becomes the sâdhaka of the sâdhana as well as the Master of the Yoga by whom the lower individuality is used as the centre of a marvelous transfiguration and the apparatus of its own flawlessness.

The complete belief of Integral Yoga is to give oneself entirely to the Divine alone and to nonentity else, and to bring behind into ourselves by union with the Divine Mother all the transcendent light, power, wideness, peace, purity, truth-consciousness and Ananda of the Supramental heavenly.

How to Curb the Anxiety Syndrome?

This video will show you how to meditate. Anyone can benefit from the healing powers of meditation. You don’t need to be some spiritual guru to do this, and it doesn’t need to be complicated. In fact simple is often better. Meditation is all about clearing the mind of conscious thoughts. Removing that mental chatter so that your mind is clear. Being able to rest the mind like this is great for both mental and physical health in almost every way imaginable. It is also great for gaining insight about your own mind, and even generating creative thoughts, as it allows the powerful intuitive subconscious mind to take charge. There are many methods people use to help them clear their minds. Some people simply sit in a comfortable position with their eyes closed and think about nothing. However this is not so easy for most people. Many people find something to focus on in order to help them clear their minds. You may wish to focus on your breathing — breathing slowly and deeply, and concentrate your mind on your breathing. Some people like to repeat a mantra, either out loud or in their head, over and over again. The mantra can be any words or even a sound. It could be just the word ‘relax’, or the traditional ‘ohhmm’ sound. You can even focus on an object to help you clear your mind. This does not necessarily have to be a religious or spiritual object. Some people like to focus on a flickering candle flame for example. You can even focus on an imagined …
